Amaravati: The very severe cyclonic storm Arnab is likely to make landfall early on Wednesday, the Meteorological Department said in an update on Tuesday.
It will cross Andhra Pradesh and Yanam coasts between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam between 2 am and 4 am, a Met department update said.
It observed that Arnab is interacting with the land surface and the outer spiral band has entered into the land.
"Due to faster movement, the landfall of the cyclone is expected early, likely during early hours around 2 am to 4 am on Wednesday", it stated.
The very severe cyclonic storm over west-central Bay of Bengal moved west to northwestwards with a speed of 18 kmph in the past six hours up to 5:30 pm today and lay centered over west-central Bay of Bengal, a Met department update said.

Authorities have also stepped up precautionary measures ahead of its expected landfall on Wednesday.
Kakinada District Collector M N Harendhira Prasad urged people to remain indoors and avoid venturing outside unless necessary, amid the worsening weather conditions.
In Yanam, part of the Union Territory of Puducherry, authorities intensified preparedness measures to minimise the impact of heavy rainfall and prevent waterlogging.
Around 100 personnel were deployed on Tuesday morning, along with JCB machines and tractors, to clear garbage and blockages from drainage channels and ensure the smooth flow of rainwater.
Residents were cautioned that strong winds ranging from 110 to 140 kmph could occur during the cyclone’s landfall. Authorities also advised people in low-lying areas to move to safer locations and avoid leaving their homes unless absolutely necessary.
The administration appealed to residents to strictly follow official safety advisories and warnings to protect their lives and property as the cyclone approaches the coast.
